Three Worlds was featured in the temporary exhibit Disruption from 2022-2023 at the Museum of the Cherokee People. This piece was inspired by my passion for Indigenous material history (archaeology), honoring NAGRPA, traditional Kituwah cosmology, and the role of Kituwah women in the three worlds. I spent months researching and meditating before laying brush to canvas. This painting is a deep meditation on what it is to be a Kituwah woman. I began the process for this painting while in my second trimester and completed it postpartum. My experience as an archaeologist deeply informed this piece, as it does most of my works. In the following images is the accompanying panel I wrote on archaeology and looting. It is such a joy to finally be able to share prints of this painting with everyone.

  • Fine art giclée print

  • Heavy weight velvet paper

  • Matte finish

  • Image 9” x 12”, outer border 9 3/8” x 12 3/8”

  • Each copy is signed and numbered #/50 by Atsei Cooper

  • Comes with a printout of product description and story behind it
